City Quays
In various stages of planning/completion
Belfast Harbour’s City Quays is a £275 million office-led regeneration project located in the former docklands area of Belfast, seeking to reconnect the river frontage to the city centre.
Components of the Masterplan include:
Sailortown
Bridge
Ideas have always been floated for a new pedestrian bridge north of the Lagan Weir Footbridge, but lately, plans have been given a good deal of momentum.
In August 2023, it was announced that Belfast City Council planned to make a bid for funding to Dublin’s Shared Island Fund. The bid would include a new bridge from Titanic Quarter to Sailortown/City Quays.
In December 2023, the Waterfront Task Group (WTG) issued a report exploring how the Lagan waterfront could be improved, including proposals for the new bridge, seeing the provision of the bridge as vital to connectivity in the area.
The WTG is an umbrella group comprising Belfast City Council, DfI, DfC, Belfast Harbour, Titanic Quarter Limited, and others.
City Quays
Gardens
A major urban garden project currently underway, City Quays Gardens will be the first to achieve the “One Planet Living” accreditation in Northern Ireland.
Once completed, this vibrant and attractive public space will help increase biodiversity and create new habitat for wildlife.
City Quays 4
City Quays 4 is a proposed 256-unit residential block located beside AC Marriott Hotel.
Proposals include a mix of studio, 1-bed, and 2-bed sustainable energy-efficient apartments.
Plans were submitted in late 2022, with work expected to commence in 2024 subject to planning approval.
City Quays 5
City Quays 5 is a proposed mixed-use office, retail, and amenity development.
Proposals include ground floor retail, a new building/reception entrance facing onto City Quays Gardens, as well as a gallery/community space accessible from Donegall Quay.
