Q4 2024

  • The entire station will be completed in full, and buses will begin arriving at Grand Central Station.


  • All rail into the centre of Belfast will be halted to allow engineers to connect the rails. Rail replacement buses will be running.


  • Demolition of the old Great Victoria Street Station and leveling of the Boyne Bridge will begin.


  • A brand new ticketing system (Similar to Oyster) will be introduced along with ticket machines and new automated barriers and will be the largest system in the UK outside of London.

Early 2025

  • With Great Victoria Street Station gone and the Boyne Bridge levelled, work will start on a new public square as well as public realm improvements to Grosvenor Road

2025 and Beyond!

Grand Central Station will act as a catalyst for major public transport improvements in the future, and Translink have a lot on the table

  • Reopening of the Knockmore line
  • Reopening of closed stations
  • Upgrades to tracks to allow for more trains
  • Electrification of Dublin to Bangor line
  • New trains will be acquired
  • New station at International Airport

Weavers Cross will slowly become a new city centre neighbourhood with the potential for 1.3 million square feet of mixed-use office, life sciences, residential, student housing, hotels and retail/leisure space.
